PintabianBiz Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get registration papers?

The turn-around time varies widely and depends on many factors such as the workload in the office at the time of arrival, other registry priorities, where the papers are to be mailed, and so on.  Inaccurate or incomplete applications, unfiled Stallion Breeding Reports, and/or the failure to send photos or proper fees, are common causes of delays.

I understand that Pintabian horses have recently been crossed together.  Will they have less Arabian conformation?

Pintabian horses have been crossed together for nearly 20 years.  The conformation of the Pintabian horse remains unchanged.

What is the average price of a Pintabian horse?

The breeders and owners of Pintabian horses establish the prices they sell their horses for, not the Pintabian Horse Registry, Inc.

Why produce a tobiano Arabian?

There are no tobiano Arabians.  Purebred Arabians are believed to be the purest horses in the world but they do not come in this particular pattern.  All modern day saddle horses, including Pintabian horses, do descend from Arabians, however.

What colors are accepted by the registry and what are the most common colors?

Pintabian horses come in a variety of colors with bay, black and chestnut being the most common.

Why are Pintabian horses always tobiano and not overo?

The Pintabian mark was created many years ago to describe horses with tobiano markings; usage of the Pintabian mark denotes tobiano horses registered in the Colored Division of the Pintabian Horse Registry, Inc.

Does the yearling registration fee apply beginning January 1 of the calendar year after foaling or at 12 months of age?

PHRI registration fees and membership fees are based on the calendar year; therefore, the yearling registration fee applies from January 1st through December 31st following the year of birth.

Can I pay for my breeding report and membership by credit card?

In order to keep fees down, the Pintabian Horse Registry, Inc. does not take payments by credit card, Pay Pal, or wire transfer at this time.  Please mail your check or money order along with reports and applications to PHRI, Box 360, Karlstad, MN 56732-0360.
